I returned to Montréal on an early train Sunday morning. I arrived around 2pm and it was basically pretty chill. Kat and I went to look at a couch. The purchase was successful and the next evening, we (and Matt and Gina) went over and carried a couch down a flight of stairs and exactly 0.6 kilometres across our little part of the city. And now we have a couch!

In other news, I’ve seen a few of the A-boys bit by bit, but otherwise it’s been mostly China friends in class, which is pretty awesome. It’s so nice to have friends in class. Except I’m still trying to track down Laurence, who has been ridiculously difficult to phone up. The Chinese class is good so far… or it’s exactly like the first one, but this time half filled with people I know from the summer.

(This is the semesterly class round-up by the way.) My sole history course this semester seems to be going pretty well. The professor intended to teach it has left our school and PhD candidate has replaced her. A Margaret for a Margaret. Her teaching style seems pretty similar though. It looks all right.

My only Middle East class this semester is an anthropology class. None of the people usually in Middle East studies are there. Instead, there are a lot of girls. I thought I had a problem studying with girls ’cause my immediate reaction was “ugh,” which was then immediately validated by the three blondes behind me giggling at our Italian-accented professor. I don’t have a problem with studying with girls. There are plenty of girls in my other class and they’re fine because they don’t giggle every time the professor speaks. The second lesson was better, less giggling… (hmm, maybe they dropped it) The readings also look really interesting.

There’s introduction to Korean culture which also has a few students from the summer as well as one of the A-boys (which ends up being a list of Korean popstars, but that’s okay. The professor speaks slowly. Ehh.

My graduate level seminar is really cool I think. I was all intimidated earlier because I thought there would be a 20-page paper. Instead, there are four 5-page papers and a bunch of really cool readings. I’m excited. And it’s mostly undergrads taking the class.
